Ever wonder what it would be like to be blind? I could still remember how I and my 2 siblings used to play a blindfold game when we were still kids. With just a stick on hand as our guide, we roam around our house and tried to touch and feel everything, used our ears to listen to every bit of noise created by my siblings whenever they laugh at me every time I bump into our tables and cabinets and fell down. After each game, we were all excited to remove our blindfolds and talk about how the game went.
I know that there are also some people out there who played the same game during their childhood days and for sure you had so much fun and it was indeed a memorable experience. Isn’t it? But looking back, I can’t help but wonder how a real blind person feels all this time that they had to go through this lifelong game. What are the real struggles that they had to face? How do these people live their life, smile and laugh like how the normal people do? And most especially, how do these people eat?
Today, I received an invitation to attend a special “Dinner in the Dark”, an event hosted by the Zoomanity Group to be held on November 19,2017 at Zoocobia in Clark, Pampanga from 12noon to 8PM. This event will give all participants a chance to open their eyes in a “dark” condition. This great cause will give you a unique experience of dining in total darkness and understand how it is to be blind.
Zoomanity Group, one of the leading companies in the park industry, will host series of “Dinner in the Dark” for the benefit of the Blind Foundations in the country. This exceptional event will create awareness amongst us what it is like to lose our sense of sight and appreciate it even more. Guests will have a 30 minute orientation before the dinner which will be held in different Zoomanity parks and restaurant. During the dinner, the participants’ sense of sight will be totally diminished then their other senses will take over and will be heightened. Wonderful scents and sounds, and beautiful music, will be expected as well.
After receiving the invitation, I quickly did my research about it and found several articles and events done in the past. The stories made me feel super excited and I can’t wait for Sunday and be able share my own experience!
